Gigi Gaston has been tapped to adapt Mike Shropshire's comic novel "The Pro" for Johnny Langdon's Bumbershoot Prods.

Langdon, Susan O'Connell and Carolyn Pfeiffer will produce. Project centers on an ex-golf pro and natural born reprobate who wins redemption despite his best efforts to fight it off at every turn.

Gaston has previously sold scripts to Imagine Entertainment ("Madame Lupescu"), Drew Barrymore ("Like a Lady") and Steve Tisch ("Mockingbird") and directed the documentary "The Cream Will Rise" about singer/songwriter Sophie B. Hawkins. Gaston also directed the independent film "Beyond the City Limits" starring Nastassja Kinski, Alyson Hannigan, Jennifer Esposito, Steve Harris and Sophie B. Hawkins.

Bumbershoot, based in Fort Worth, Texas, is also developing Rod Taylor's "Empire Man," . . . and Stefan Schaefer's "Willpower."

Gaston's manager Graham Kaye and attorneys Patti Felker and Chris Abramson brokered the deal on her behalf. Alper negotiated the deal for Bumbershoot, which is repped by Stan Coleman of Weissman, Wolffe, Bergman, Coleman, Grodin, and Evall, LLP (WWBCGE).
